What is it 82? Now solved!

A very different 'fruit' but from which plant? Any ideas?

Didn't help, I don't play tennis
Retired veterinary surgeon by training with a PhD in parasitology,  but worked as a virologist since 1992.

Should have known I could rely on one of our Australian colleagues when it came to a question of sport. Andy Murray, my wife's favourite tennis player, after Marcos Baghdatis naturally!
