Tree fungus ID'd by Oron as Inonotus tamaricis

Tree fungus ID'd by Oron as Inonotus tamaricis

We saw this fungus growing on a Tamarix tree in Korinthos today.
Does anyone know its name?

It is Inonotus tamaricis
Garden Designer, Bulb man, Botanical tours guide.
Living and gardening in Tivon, Lower Galilee region, North Israel.
Min temp 5c Max 42c, around 450mm rain.
