Hi Alisdair,

Can you send them round to my place?  :)
I have a small garden in Rome, Italy. Some open soil, some concrete, some paved. Temperatures in winter occasionally down to 0°C. Summer temperatures up to 40°C in the shade. There are never watering restrictions but, of course, there is little natural water for much of June, July and August.

You are not alone David, I am no fan either. We have one that is about to reach power lines, why on earth it was planted where it was is a mystery and we also have a half a dozen or more rather ungainly ones that are planted near our fence line.
I guess at the time they would of been OK but now have grown far to big and we need a solid fence put there but can't without it becoming a major and expensive operation.

Good for bonsai but my dislike for them stretches too far.
G'day from an Aussie in Spain. Currently attempting a total garden overhaul.
