I had decided on the fruit but couldn't find another photo on the internet to be sure.
The western Mediterranean gave it away for me.
Does anyone know of a dainty way to eat this fruit?

I did give the genus name in the answer to Mike, at least it was one spelling of the name. ....I cAN ON A close look...... for those who may not have spotted it. I did advise looking closely and from all angles.

Update, none of the flowers set fruit. Maybe I can put it down to it being an immature tree and its first attempt. Perhaps next year I'll have to get out the paint brush and try a bit of the complicated hand pollination described on the Internet.
