The first is a tender tree/shrub. I've never noticed the flowers but the seeds are black and pepper-corn sized and come in pairs. It's deciduous.
The second looks in every way like a myrtle cultivar but it is unscented and the friend who gave me the cuttings said the flowers were not myrtle-like. My two plants haven't flowered yet.

The second is out of focus but seems like Lonicera nitida.
-
My apologies, I've attached the right photos now. Can you confirm the verdict?
-
The first one looks rather like a Grewia perhaps G. tiliaefolia?
-
Yes Fleur it is Lonicera nitida,
I also think like John that it is a Grewia but it is difficult to say which without seeing the flowers or fruits.
G. tiliaefolia has much bigger leaves than this one.
-
I found Grewia stolzii on Google. The seeds are very similar except that I've only seen pairs not groups of four. The leaves are not unsimilar. Here is the G stolzii from Google and the leaf from my bush. The tip has been chewed by a spider or something.
