Title: Solanum elaeagnifolium - Weed in vineyard ID
Post by: Chris on October 22, 2019, 11:14:43 AM
Howdy folks,

I have been wondering the name of the silvery leaved, purple flowered plant with yellow tomato like fruits since I noticed them along the roadsides in Greece. The question was raised about this plant at the Vineyard during the AGM also so I did some research.

I'm fairly sure I have correctly identified them as SIlverleaf Nightshade (Solanum elaeagnifolium).

Well plenty of people have read your post but no one has answered your question.
I think you have found the correct name to the plant

A few years ago,  when I first saw it, my son told me it was an escapee in Greece and had arrived in in a bag of grain from the USA.
For some unknown reason it is known as  Γερμανός/ German in Greece
