From the President
THE 100TH EDITION OF THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN
As always, each journal has an introduction by the President, in this case Caroline Davies
On the page opposite the letter from the President there is always a full-page drawing, here it is of ‘A Freesia hybrid’ by Freda Cox
I am posting a scan of this drawing and a photo of a freesia hybrid
This article can be read in full in THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN issue number 100 available as a free download

Now to find flowery photos of some of the eleven places she visited. Since we are only allowed to post ten photos, I will miss out Epidavrus
1 Athens, the view from the Acropolis and Tree tobacco, Nicotiana glauca
2 Corinth, the columns seen through a pine tree
3 Mycenae, wild flowers near the Lion Gate
4 Olympia and Judas trees, Cercis siliquastrum
5 Delphi and wildflowers
6 The Meteora in the mist in May 1994
7 Mykonos, the Aegean and Poppies, Papaver rhoeas
8 Patmos, the Monastery on the hill
9 Heraklion, Crete, Knossos and more pine trees
10 Santorini and grape vines
The photos were taken over thirty years, several with indifferent cameras, mostly in the spring and summer.

Hilary thank you for posting all those photos of A First look At Greece. Lucky lady to have visited them all. We were in Athens Friday 19th November, and we were lucky to be able to see 'An ancient Athenian neighbourhood' that stretches underneath the Acropolis Museum which was opened to the public in 2019 but due to the Covid restrictions this was our first chance to walk around it. Of course I went and said Hello to the 'Caryatides'
and hummed the song I learned when I was a child.

We have yet to visit the 'new 'part of the Acropolis Museum
At the moment it is too far, too difficult and too dangerous
How our world has shrunk!
