I thought this must be one of the Romuleas but what about the hairy stalk and the yellow colour
Any ideas would be welcome

Hi Miriam and Hilary

In my opinion it is either G. fibrosa or Gagea reticulata,: the very pointed petals [starry shape], hairy pedicels, solitary, very long basal leaf and stem leaves close to the ground .

Miriam and Oron,
Many many thanks.
I will go with Gagea fibrosa as the stem was very short.
I really must get down on the ground when snapping these low plants.
