Autumn colour in Sparta 2 - IDed by Oron as Lagerstroemia indica

This small tree was bursting with colour last week.
I had never noticed it before in the museum garden

Has anybody any ideas about the identity of this small tree?
Apart from the one in the museum garden I later saw many planted in the pavements looking rather miserable

It is one of the cultivars of Lagerstroemia indica.
