Seed identified by Oron as Dimocarpus longan
« on: July 19, 2012, 01:31:14 PM »
Can anyone identify this seed for me please.  I thought it was Brachychiton but I now think I am wrong.  Its quite unusual in that it is about 8mm across. Hope someone can help.  Thanks

Pamela, could it be a Dimocarpus longan seed? (the Litchi cousine)

Dear Oron
I am truly amazed that you have found the name of this seed for me.  In fact I am quite gobsmacked.  I thought it would be something much more mundane as I think I found it under a Brachychiton at Valencia Botanical garden last year.......  But they do have a tropical house and a shade house so maybe.......
Oron...Thank you so much!
