KIRSTENBOSCH NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN
Cape Town, South Africa.
The photos of plants seen in Kirstenbosch were sent to me by a nephew who visited the gardens in August 2023.
There are many articles in THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN mentioning Kirstenbosch, I will be referring to several of them.
First a general view of the garden.

In A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT in THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN, number 16 Spring 1999, Heidi Gildemeister refers to the journal produced by the Botanical Society of Kirstenbosch.
In the same journal there is an article written by Anda Wayland about her garden in South Africa where Protea abound.

I quote
And a bush of Cape Honeysuckle, Turrea obtrusively. This last plant has been somewhat unhappy and has not shown the marvellous summer display of flowers that one sees in Kirstenbosch
Unfortunately, I have neither photo nor postage stamp depicting this plant.
However, as I like to include a photo in each post, I am attaching a scan of a postage stamp depicting a white Protea,
Protea Mundii which might not have anything to do with the White Garden in the Mediterranean but probably grows in the Kirstenbosch Garden

Kirstenbosch is mentioned in OUR ‘GARDEN OF EDEN’
by Hamish Warren
THE MEDITERRANEAN GARDEN number 28 April 2002
I quote ‘
‘When one walks out of the visitors’ entrance and down the slope at Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens one is hit by the sight of a bed of ink- blue pendulous Agapanthus inapertus’ ‘We had to get one’
The writer was given a small rooted Agapanthus inapertus plant on condition that he would not reproduce it for commercial purposes.
Once more I have no photos of this plant but have a couple of other Agapanthus both seen growing in Corinth.
