Any ideas what it is? Would it be good for mediterranean type climates? I took a cutting but by the time I got it back to rome it was looking a little worse for wear. The photos were taken at night on an Ipod using flash so not perfect, I'm afraid.
All advice gratefully received, as always. :)

David it is Fallopia baldschuanica
It is growing perfectly under Mediterranean conditions but needs irrigation from time to time during summer.

Thanks a lot Oron. Good to hear that it will grow here. Now all I have to do is get the cutting to root. It is indoors during our current very cold spell.
