Title: Fungus ID'd by Fleur as Helvella leucomelaena or White-footed Elf Cup

I am guessing that this is a fungus. Any help welcome.

Looks like it belongs to the order Pezizales, maybe in the genus Peziza, many of these are saprophytic fungi growing on rotting wood. They are shaped like cups and have no stalk.
