Rhodophiala is a South American genus of hippeastrum relatives and some are quite suitable for Mediterranean conditions.
Rhodophiala bifida does really well in our garden.
The first one I planted was a "commercially available" form which had orange-red flowers; this year's flowers aren't as good as the second pic taken a couple of years ago,

When that Rhodophiala set seed back in 2009 I presumed that I must've used pollen from something like a Sprekelia to pollinate it as it appears to be self-sterile however the seedlings finally flowered this year and there does not appear to be any sign of hybridity so it must've just been a fluke that it set seed

This is an "ox-blood red" form of Rhodophiala bifida which I got from a friend in Leongatha

A few years ago the orange red and the ox-blood forms of Rhodophiala flowered at the same time so I was able to cross pollinate them. The resulting seedlings were planted out around a small hawthorn and have flowered well the last two years

I'm glad it finally flowered!
Here's another one - it's a pink form of Rhodophiala bifida, also from seed from Santiago in Argentina
